Beschreibung
EC Peazy is a website that connects students to extracurricular activities and strives to ensure that students achieve success in these areas. Currently, the website incorporates four main features: a simple database search, a portfolio, a recommendations tab, and access to an AI model that we have fine-tuned and developed. The Database Search was built by compiling a dataset through a web scraping algorithm that scrapes other websites for a detailed list of unique extracurriculars. Various filters were developed, such as Grade Level and Field, which can then be applied to the dataset to find relevant ECs that adhere to those restrictions. To further the interactive nature of our website, we provided a portfolio page where students can provide entries about activities they are currently working on and majors of interest. The benefit of consistently updating your portfolio comes when the student moves on to use the recommendation tab. The recommendations come from a Java Algorithm that first reads the previously web-scraped spreadsheet and finds ECs that the current student has not previously mentioned on their portfolio but also match the majors they have provided. This way, as students take on more and more activities, they can continue to get useful recommendations if they update said portfolio. Now, these features make EC Peazy an innovative way to get students to continuously use our platform. However, EC Peazy isn’t just a site to get ECs; it should turn the ambitions of students into actual actionable statements. This is where the AI mentor comes in. The AI mentor is meant to help students answer questions about the extracurriculars they are pursuing and can help students manage their time and motivation efficiently. To train this AI, we once again needed to make a dataset. Since getting real-life data on this topic is extremely complex, we decided to use a GPT 3.5 model to develop this dataset. Using prompt engineering, we made a spreadsheet split into two columns: Questions (Sample questions about Extracurricular Activities) and Answers (Answers to the previously mentioned Questions). After generating a dataset of 1000 questions, we created a GPT-2 model and trained it on the data. With the trained GPT-2 Model, the AI Mentor was ready for use and would be what differentiated us from plain and substandard competition. We focused on making the platform both customer-friendly and personalized to every user. The platform adheres to both of those with the portfolio and recommendation features that are simple to use and personalized to each person. We believe that with the work and effort put into building the platform, EC Peazy has the potential to grow and cause a change within extracurricular opportunities, making it easy to compete and excel.
