IdeePerifaPlay: Turning Culture into Income in Marginalized Communities

PerifaPlay is a free digital platform conceptualized to provide visibility, income, and recognition for audiovisual creators from marginalized communities. Currently, the project is in the design and planning phase, with no development, launch, or implementation carried out to date. PerifaPlay’s goal is to enable these producers to publish short films, music videos, documentaries, and series focused on culture, education, and social impact, and to monetize their content through ads, sponsorships, and direct audience support. In this way, the platform aims to turn culture into a real source of income and inclusive opportunities. More than just a video site, PerifaPlay will be an ecosystem that strengthens the creative economy in underserved areas, also offering workshops, free courses, and networking spaces to connect local talents with new professional pathways. By expanding access to cultural production and technical training, the project seeks to fight social invisibility and encourage leadership from people historically excluded from mainstream media. PerifaPlay has the potential for economic, educational, social, and environmental impact. By democratizing culture, it helps combat poverty, promote decent work, and reduce inequalities. As an alternative to traveling to urban centers to access cultural content, remote access to audiovisual works produced in peripheral communities also helps reduce carbon emissions. The platform will also include educational campaigns about environmental awareness. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the project contributes especially to poverty eradication, quality education, decent work, innovation, reduced inequalities, and sustainable communities. PerifaPlay emerges as a concrete tool for social transformation through culture, technology, and the recognition of marginalized territories.

As a student of Audiovisual Production and a resident of a peripheral community, I have practical experience with visual storytelling that authentically and creatively portrays social realities. My technical knowledge in audiovisual production, combined with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities, allows me to develop projects with strong cultural and social impact. I can support other organizations by creating strategic audiovisual content, leading workshops for young communicators, offering consulting in inclusive communication, and helping to develop cultural projects focused on diversity, education and community engagement. I believe collaboration is the key to building more just and representative solutions.
