#MEET Myrielle Creaciones

This is a short interview we conducted with Silvia Ines Rojas Castro, the founder of “Myrielle Creaciones”. If you like the concept of this idea and would like to vote for it, click HERE.

  • What is your background?

My name is Silvia Ines Rojas Castro and the name of my project is: Myrielle Creaciones: handmade sandals by the Haitian community in Santiago Chile. I'm a commercial engineer and I worked for two years in a private consultant firm designing and executing marketing projects. In Haiti I worked almost 3 years leading different projects the which includes the productive development programs in order to generate incomes for the vulnerable communities in the north of Port-au-Prince. Now I'm living in Chile and my knowledge of the Chilean woman's consumer behavior let me know this project will have success. I have the passion, the technical skills and the social motivation to make this an extraordinary project that will benefit Haitians and Chileans both.

  • Describe your idea or project in two sentences.

Myrielle Creaciones is an e-commerce market that sells handmade sandals created by the Haitian community living in Santiago- Chile. The sandals have a Caribbean style, very colorful and with creative designs.

  • What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

Make the project visible to friends, familiy and others.

  • What motivates you to be an entrepreneur?

The very precarious conditions, Haitians are living in Chile. After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Haitians started to come to Chile. Acording to the Migration Department there was around 300 by 2012. This number has increase every day. From 3.848 in 2014 it grew to 12.019 in 2015. Today is more than 40.000 Unfortunately, life in Chile is expensive and it's not easy to find a job without having a regular migratory status. Although haitians are very artistic and handy, they haven't have a chance to show how talented and capable they are to create beautiful things.

  • Imagine you have ‚supreme power’ to create and innovate: how would your world look like? What changes would you like to make in your community and/or in the world? Share your thoughts from a ‚supreme power’ and entrepreneur standpoint.

I will change the education system in Chile because it only encourages the gap between rich and vulnerable people.

  • What would you say to potential voters who may be reading your interview?

Support the project that better identifies your social cause.
