#MEET Tour De North Bamboo Village

This is a short interview we conducted with Gillian Josephine .O. P'Ochen, the founder of “Tour De North Bamboo Village”. If you like the concept of this idea and would like to vote for it, click HERE.

  • What is your background?

My Name: Gillian Josephine .O. P'Ochen 33 years old, Nationality Ugandan. Education: Bachelor of Tourism Management of Makerere University Kampala. Field of work: Hospitality and Tourism, tour consultant / tour guide. Name of my idea; Tour De North Bamboo Village.

  • Describe your idea or project in two sentences.

Tour De North Bamboo village, Aruu county, Angagura sub county Uganda. Targeting enroute tourists to and from Kidepo valley National Park, the general public interested in learning forgotten cultures and employing youth from the county.

  • What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

I have learnt that setting clear goals is key to moving the unknown to be known as it was put out by Tony Robins. I have learnt that to be a successful entrepreneur one has to be into constant research of how to continuously be innovative and relevant, how to cope with competitions and how to keep your ideas relevant to survive its fifth birthday. Innovative, creative, set the right goals and determinations= Success.

  • What motivates you to be an entrepreneur?

The fact that there are no fair chances in the job market and also the very many qualified individuals scrambling to get that one position. Two there are so many untapped opportunities lying virgin in our communities that needs to be explored. just love it to be my own boss and being in the employment chain for my fellow youth and setting a standard for those yet to follow me. As entrepreneurship is all about being innovative, creative, set the right goals and determinations.

  • Imagine you have ‚supreme power’ to create and innovate: how would your world look like? What changes would you like to make in your community and/or in the world? Share your thoughts from a ‚supreme power’ and entrepreneur standpoint.

Change our educational curriculum from theoretical perspective to practical perspective. Train job creators not seekers, Channel more support in research and exchange visits to empower innovative persons with more wider platform for creativity. Create an active capital fund for best ideas that may not have access to funds for start ups.

  • What would you say to potential voters who may be reading your interview?

Tour De North Bamboo Village is getting beyond and Idea, its at its start up stage, and going to employ a number of youth at various levels of education and also improving the household livelihood through Shea butter crème and soap making, bamboo furniture, bamboo crafts and sales of raw materials to be used at the construction and set up of the Bamboo village by the surrounding communities as part of the Bamboo village corporate social responsibility in partnership with other stakeholders. Kindly motivate me to make this idea a reality. Thank you very much.
