#MEET Zero Hunger is Possible

This is a short interview we conducted with Uledi Kimbavala the creator of Zero Hunger is Possible. If you like this project and would like to vote for it, click here.


1. Please, tell us a bit about yourself: where are you from and what is your background?

My name is Uledi Kimbavala from Tanzania East Africa, am 25 Years Old, students pursuing Bachelor Degree of Veterinary medicine at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Co- Founder of Tanzania Institutional Economic Development Foundation (TIEDF), information officer of Tanzania Veterinary Students Association TVSA.

2. Can you describe your idea or project in two sentences?

My idea is "Zero hunger is possible focusing from local community level", its value chain addition in Maize produced at rural areas into maize flour and improved animal feed for Chicken and pig production at local community level.

3. How did you get your idea or concept?

I get this idea as the problem affected my community and I so the sufferings then I wanted to solve this challenge and ensure that next generation will not suffer the same. The primary cause of seasonal hunger at local community level is dependence on single livelihood activity hence sell all the harvests during harvesting season to middle men traders for a low price, therefore, diversifications of activities through value chain addition is the solution to this.

4. What is unique about your idea/project and how does it benefit mankind?

The uniqueness of my idea its focus the rural area and make sure nutrients are circulating within the area being added its value, my idea is taking energy source in maize into animal protein sources meat and eggs via animal feed, Slogan of my idea is unique."We consume our own farm products to the maximum sweetness, it's environmental friendly as manure will also turn into the soil.

5. Describe yourself as an entrepreneur in one sentence

A challenge to opportunity converter.

6. How do you deal with people that doubt your abilities/initiatives?

I let them appreciate my achievement I know they make me work hard and they will join me later.

7. Where does your passion lie?

Motivating people, motivational speaker.

 8. What are you afraid of or what keeps you up at night?

Challenges in my community like hunger and disease.

9. According to you, money is a synonym for.....

A resource for quality life.

10. If you could rid the world of three things, what would they be?

  1. Hunger
  2. Poverty
  3. Ignorance

11. What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

It was like a classroom when we shared experience and skills with young entrepreneur all over the World and I learnt to locate Opportunity around me from online courses.

12. What do you like more about the Entrepreneurship Campus?

Managerial skills in entrepreneurship, networking and start up funding.

13. Which idea/project do you like most?

@Meet zero hunger. The idea of inclusive and diversified farming is impressive and I am really thrilled by this idea. With this farmers can sell produce all year round. Quite wonderful.
