Waste2Plate is an innovative application aimed at significantly reducing household food waste. The application offers a user-friendly interface that simplifies the process of managing and repurposing leftover food. Here’s how it works: The Waste2Plate app features an intuitive, easy-to-navigate interface. Upon opening the app, users can utilize their smartphone camera to scan leftover food items. Once the leftover food items are scanned, Waste2Plate leverages sophisticated AI, such as OpenAI’s GPT-4 or Google's BERT, to analyze the ingredients. The AI not only identifies the items but also understands their quantity and condition. This analysis is crucial for suggesting appropriate recipes. The built-in AI then cross-references the scanned ingredients with a vast database of recipes. This database includes well-known online repositories such as Love Food Hate Waste and BBC Good Food. The AI considers dietary restrictions, preferences, and available ingredients to recommend a variety of recipes that users can choose from. To further enhance user experience, the app provides detailed nutritional breakdowns of each suggested recipe.
