Lisa Lang, CEO and Founder of ElektroCouture
Lisa Lang has a name ripped straight out of a Marvel comic, and delivers the personality to match. And she too has a superpower: Lisa brings people together to create new, innovative, beautiful products.
Lisa was raised in a Franconian craftsman family, and studied Art, New Media, and International Business Management. More than 10 years into her technology and media career, she has lived and worked all around the world. In that decade, she’s gained a strong reputation for being a game-changer in digital product and media innovation.
Lisa brings the full array of her experiences and passions to the table as founder of ElektroCouture (est. 2014), a collaborative house for bespoke technologies.
Lisa is a mentor to several European hardware startups, and a strong advocate for the Berlin technology ecosystem. She has been named one of the top 100 most influential people in wearable tech worldwide.
Fashion is the new user interface. It helps us to make people more comfortable with technology.
Think about it: when we wear fashion, we want to feel comfortable, beautiful, and secure. That’s why you have to be very conscious about how much technology (especially visible technology!) you implement in a garment.
That’s why we have chosen to work with light. It’s beautiful and makes you happy, but it’s also a very intelligent technology. We’re creating ready-to-wear clothes. That means we also have to focus on the not-so-sexy fashion technology issues. Our pieces need to be bendable and washable.
We’re living in an amazing time right now, in which everything is new, and anything goes. At the same time, there is no ecosystem, no logistical set-up or supply chain, no off-the-rack solutions to use. We’re building vertical integration from the ground up, and we’re doing it in Berlin.
We believe this city is going to be the place for real, wearable fashion technology — and we’re here to support that ecosystem from the beginning.
