Description

The Kenyan market is always a dirty place with lots of fruits and vegetables dumped on the market. The Black Soldier Fly is a fly that is used in waste management. We will collect the market waste from the market and use it to feed our flies, after feeding the flies there's normally what remains from the waste inform of clean sand which is now used in farms as fertilizers. The fly grows in four stages: the egg, the larva, the pupa, and the adult fly stage. The larval stage is when the flies are used in waste management and animal feed at this stage, they eat the waste collected from the market and at this stage also you can use them as feed for your animals like chicken, duck or fish as they are very nutritious.

Expertise

I have been taught a course Black Soldier Fly Farming at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), this is a simple course with great benefits that can be done by anyone, I would love to scale up specifically to train persons with disabilities so that they can have a livelihood and we can have a clean environment.
