Description

SkillBox: Learn, Earn, and Rise In many parts of India, talented and curious young girls are often held back just because they lack access to basic skills, guidance, or income. I’ve seen it around me—girls who are smart and hardworking but don’t get the same opportunities to explore their potential. That’s what made me think of SkillBox. SkillBox is a mobile-first learning platform designed especially for underprivileged high school girls in India. The aim is simple: to teach practical digital and business skills in regional languages through short, easy-to-follow audio-visual courses. These can be things like designing in Canva, using digital payment apps, understanding freelancing, or creating resumes. No fancy English, no heavy data usage—just useful learning in a way that feels accessible. But SkillBox is more than just learning. Once a girl completes a course, she can be connected to real micro-internships with NGOs, local businesses, or small online sellers. Even simple tasks like designing a flyer or helping with basic digital tasks can help her gain experience and earn small amounts. Over time, she builds confidence, a mini portfolio, and most importantly -independence. To keep it fun and motivating, girls earn reward points for completing modules and internships. These points can be exchanged for mobile recharges or learning kits. SkillBox is lightweight, works on basic phones, and is designed to feel like a friend who’s helping you grow. This idea directly supports several UN SDGs like Gender Equality (5), Quality Education (4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (8), Reduced Inequalities (10), and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (9). For me, SkillBox isn’t just a projec, it’s a way to make sure that girls like me, who just need a little push, can dream bigger, learn confidently, and start shaping their own future.

Expertise

I’m a commerce student who’s passionate about entrepreneurship, digital learning, and youth empowerment — especially for girls from underprivileged backgrounds. Over time, I’ve developed skills in business communication, idea development, Canva design, and using digital platforms like Google tools and social media effectively. My strength lies in understanding what young learners need and explaining complex things in simple, clear ways. I can support other organizations by helping them: Design or simplify learning content for rural or low-tech students Create visual content (like posters or presentations) for outreach Build programs that connect learning with earning (micro-internships, paid tasks) Conduct awareness sessions in schools or youth groups about digital skills, freelancing, or confidence-building Most of all, I bring a fresh perspective from a student’s point of view. I understand what excites young people, what holds them back, and how to connect with them in a relatable way.
