Description

“Unplugged” is the safe space I wish I had. Whether they're caught in an endless scroll on Instagram, Tiktok, or even in group chats, I created Unplugged to help teens feel a little more humane. Through our icebreakers, discussions, and group activities, teens can reconnect with themselves and with each other. It’s all about reminding our generation the power of presence. Following our core mission, this is how "Unplugged" will come to life each week: Every other Friday from 6-8 PM, I will transform my basement/backyard into a cozy, tech-free zone; phones will go in a "phone baset" at the door. This is the basic flow: 1. 6:00–6:30 PM – Arrival & Dinner 2. 6:30–7:00 PM – Check‑In Circle 3. 7:00–7:45 PM – Themed Group Activity 4. 7:45–8:00 PM – Wrap‑Up & Next‑Week Preview Weekly Themes (examples): Comparison Culture Digital Detox Social Media & Identity Real vs. Fake Connections FOMO & Peer Pressure Confidence Offline Setting Boundaries Building Offline Habits Coping with Disconnection Celebration & Reflection How We Gamify & Make It Fun: - Phone Basket - Iconic Setup - Creative Expression - Anonymous Sharing Box - My Core Friend Group as Helpers - No-Judgment Zone

Expertise

As the oldest sibling and cousin in my family, I've spent my time throughout the years taking care of children. As a teenager in my neighborhood filled with families, I've gotten lots of babysitting experience, all while getting to know everyone. Within my community, I've started a slime business, raising money for the homeless population. From lemonade, slushie, and slime stands, I've got taught lessons in accountability, responsibility, creativity, and leadership. One of my proudest moments was delivering a talk with teenagers my age at the Georgia Student Council Convention. I was recognized with multiple awards, on the topic of "Burnout and Mental Health in Student Leadership". It's the same passion and drive that's fueling me for "Unplugged".
