Description
Smarthold is a classroom focus platform that connects students and teachers through a shared commitment to distraction-free learning.
At the start of each class, students open the Smarthold app to mark their attendance, then choose to "Lock In" — activating a focus mode that silences notifications and limits distracting apps on their device. Throughout the lesson, teachers monitor a live dashboard showing who is present and who is locked in, all without disrupting class.
Students build focus streaks for consistent participation, tracking their progress over time. Smarthold's AI analyzes each student's participation patterns and delivers personalized insights — helping them understand when they focus best, where they struggle, and how to improve. At the end of class, optional reflection prompts encourage students to think about their own attention and habits.
Every session is logged, every streak is visible, and every insight is personalized, making focus something students can see, measure, and take pride in.
Expertise
My expertise lies in behavioral analysis — identifying the gap between how systems are designed and how people actually behave within them. Through observing real classrooms, I've found that most solutions fail not from a lack of rules, but from a fundamental misalignment with human behavior. People resist what feels imposed. They respond to incentives, social accountability, and shared norms.
This allows me to help organizations design systems that people genuinely want to participate in, reducing friction, building voluntary engagement, and creating habits that last.
I also bring a financial lens to every problem. Impactful ideas mean nothing if they can't scale, so I think carefully about cost structures, pricing models, and resource allocation from the start.
Both skills point toward the same goal: helping organizations build systems that are behaviorally sound and financially sustainable.
