Bio-gas waste to energy extracting technologies

#MEET Bio-gas waste to energy extracting technologies for Kampala, Uganda and the East African region

This is a short interview we conducted with JOEL SSIMBWA MUKASA, the founder of “Bio-gas waste to energy extracting technologies”. If you like the concept of this idea and would like to vote for it, click HERE.

  1. What is your background? (Nationality, age, education, field of work)

I am 27 years of age, with a bachelor degree in the field of International Business and a Ugandan. I am an Entrepreneur by profession but also a certified World Bank Low Emissions Investment Planner focusing, on combating climate change through the creation, promotion of climate smart technologies in developing countries.

  1. Describe your idea or project in two sentences.

My project is about making a toilet, that harvests clean energy for cooking, lighting, electricity generation from the human, animal and food waste put into it. Then also converts this waste into organic fertilizer that is used to increase crop yields and guarantee food security for farming communities and East Africa at large.

  1. What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

I get the skills needed to help me become the greatest Entrepreneur of my generation and importantly the tools needed for me to fulfill my life, career aspirations.

  1. What motivates you to be an entrepreneur?

The desire, ambition to be a solution provider to the so many challenges that keep on coming up, makes me want to be an entrepreneur. Further entrepreneurship is key to all forms of independence, independence and the ability to decide my destiny and course of life motivates me to become an entrepreneur.

  1. Imagine you have ‚supreme power’ to create and innovate: how would your world look like? What changes would you like to make in your community and/or in the world? Share your thoughts from a ‚supreme power’ and entrepreneur standpoint.

From a supreme power standpoint, i would encourage, educate, sensitize parents, guardians to equip their children with entrepreneurial tools needed to create solutions that can make them earn a living. I would put up Entrepreneurial centers and sensitize masses to take their children for these lessons that make them thinkers, innovators rather than job seekers. After they have been equipped with the entrepreneurial tools, I would then support them financially with seed capital necessary to facilitate the birth, growth replication of their business ideas.

  1. What would you say to potential voters who may be reading your interview?

My business idea is one of its kind, in the whole of the East African region. With the capability to solve more than 3 challenges at the same time, that not only affect Uganda but the entire East African and African continent. I urge you the voters to vote me into winning, in order to help change and revolutionize the sanitation, clean energy and agricultural sectors across the African continent. In order to help save a child's life, guarantee food security and promote infrastructure development as a result of bringing into existence electricity, which is development's number one driver.

I am really curious to know if this idea is being implemented
