1. Please, tell us a bit about yourself: where are you from and what is your background?

I am Diana and I was born in South of Brazil. I love science since I was a kid when I got a present from my mom, my first chemistry book. After that, I was 14 years old in Chemistry course in Liberato Foundation at big local school. With 19 I started my graduation in Industry Chemistry, during which I did a lot of research using renewable materials

2. Can you describe your idea or project in two sentences?

Produce clean energy and development a chemical process to extract both materials from rice husk, Silicium Dioxide (SD) and also Cellulose (CE). Chemical convert into cellulose nanocrystals, a revolutionary raw material for the polymer industries (tires, solar panels, construction).

3. How did you get your idea or concept?

Trying to find solutions for rice husk (Huge problem in South of Brazil), and studying in scientific articles about the subject

4. What is unique about your idea/project and how does it benefit mankind?

The idea is unique because the project deals are obtaining new high technology materials and clean energy using circular economics principles, through the use of rice husk (RH) residue.

5. Describe yourself as an entrepreneur in one sentence

Persistence is my strongest characteristic, moreover, I focus on results.

6. How do you deal with people that doubt your abilities/initiatives?

Good question, first I listen to the opinion and see if it makes sense and if I need to change some planning. But I do not give up. If I understand that I am right, I seek the opposition of a person with more experience than mine to discuss and find solutions. This has happened to me many times.

7. Where does your passion lie?

I love seeing improvement and changes that I can make in places (Home, school, work, city, state, country, the world) or be a good influencing person for people.

8. What are you afraid of or what keeps you up at night?

Lack of common sense from some people who have the power to improve things, but they do not and sometimes they get in the way of people who want to do things

9. According to you, money is a synonym for.....

For getting speed in your good idea, but it not enough to have success in life

Corruption, cancer, and pollution

Your opinion on what you like about the YCEC@ silroz is impressive. Being a young person I am quite interested in creating the world, I desire to see and live. I believe that if all young persons have this mind, we will surely recreate the world because we are the future generation. If we recreate our world now, tomorrow will live in the world we desire and our children will see the world in a different perspective from what we are presently seeing and living.
“You may live in the world as it is, but you can still work to create the world as it should be” Michelle Obama

I hope it is not just a wish but it is accompanying with actions because it is actions that can create the world we so desire to live in.

Thank you campus administrator for including this item in your interview questions.
