Description
My project focuses on empowering underprivileged women by providing them with the training and resources necessary to achieve financial independence. Recognising the hardship faced by women working as domestic servants and janitors, who often earn barely enough to sustain their families, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and debt that traps them. These women frequently resort to taking loans to meet their immediate needs, only to find themselves needing additional loans to repay previous ones, perpetuating a cycle of financial insecurity. By transforming these women into entrepreneurs, we aspire to instil a sense of self-reliance and independence, which charity and donations alone cannot achieve. This initiative is a step towards creating lasting change, benefiting not only the individuals involved but also their families and the wider community for generations to come.
To support these entrepreneurial endeavours, we provide micro-loans to women after a thorough evaluation process. These loans, which can be repaid in daily, weekly, or monthly instalments, are designed to be accessible and manageable. We offer interest-free loans up to a certain amount, ensuring that the initial burden of repayment does not deter women from participating in the program. For amounts exceeding this threshold, a nominal interest is charged, fostering a sense of financial responsibility and sustainability. By providing seed funding and ongoing support, our project aims to reach as many women as possible, transforming their lives and contributing to the economic development of their communities. Our ultimate goal is to create a ripple effect of empowerment and independence, where women not only uplift themselves but also inspire and support others in their journey towards financial freedom. The interest will be utilised to begin more services to create better opportunities.
The market for these products will primarily be the households within the housing societies, leveraging the pre-established trust between the workers and the residents to boost immediate sales. Beyond this, products such as spices and handmade paper envelopes can be sold in the open market to caterers, shops, and wholesalers, with the potential market varying by product and location. Additionally, targeting restaurants and caterers can result in significant sales volumes due to their bulk purchasing needs.
