Description
My idea, Green Grow Organics, is a 100% organic foliar fertilizer designed to combat the severe nutrient loss and prohibitive costs that keep East African crop yields below 25% of their potential and force smallholder farmers to abandon their land. I have developed a pre-diluted, plant-derived spray that bypasses the soil entirely by delivering nutrients directly into plant leaves; it mixes seamlessly with the existing pesticides farmers use during rainy seasons to provide simultaneous pest control and fertilization, naturally starving out weeds and drastically reducing manual labor. I disrupt traditional distribution by bringing the market directly to the farm during peak growing seasons to eliminate transport costs, generating revenue through retail, 10,000-liter bulk orders, soil analysis, and training, which I will scale by bringing on a business administration partner. Environmentally and economically, this climate-smart solution cuts nitrate pollution by 50% to 80%, reduces soil over-fertilization greenhouse gas emissions by up to 2.1%, protects beneficial organisms, and lowers overall crop production costs by approximately 28%. With strong market validation from Kenyan field trials demonstrating a 60% adoption rate and a near-doubling of bean yields, I am now seeking between $15,000 and $25,000 to complete product optimization with Universities, transition to a commercial launch in January 2026, achieve my break-even point by Year 1.5, and ultimately build a dedicated R&D facility by late 2028.
Expertise
My core expertise goes with my academic studies because my research in my master's of agronomy was also related to foliar sprays in developing highly efficient, plant-derived organic foliar fertilizers that bypass soil erosion to deliver nutrients directly to crops. I help organizations actively advance their environmental goals, empowering limited-resource farmers to sustainably boost their crop yields while drastically reducing land and water nitrate pollution by 50% to 80%.
